LIVOLO EC Smart Door and Window Sensor

The LIVOLO opening sensor is a compact device that monitors the status of a door or window and sends this information to your smart home system. You will know immediately when it is opened, while connected LIVOLO devices can automatically perform the required action.

One small sensor eliminates constant doubts: whether a window has been left open, whether someone has opened the front door, or whether you need to switch on the light manually when entering a room.

What the sensor is used for

The sensor consists of a main unit and a magnetic part. When the door or window is closed, both parts are positioned next to each other. When it is opened, they move apart, and the sensor instantly detects the change in status.

It can be installed on:

After connecting the sensor to the gateway and the LIVOLO app, it can be used as a trigger for notifications and automated scenarios:

• the entrance door opens — the hallway light switches on automatically;
• the door opens when no one is at home — a notification is sent to your smartphone;
• a window opens — the heating or air conditioner switches off to avoid wasting energy;
• a wardrobe or closet is opened — the interior lighting switches on;
• the door remains open — the system reminds you about it.

Compatible LIVOLO smart devices and properly configured scenarios are required to perform automated actions.

Easy installation without tools

Both parts of the sensor are attached using an adhesive backing. It is recommended to install the main unit on the fixed part of the frame and the magnet on the moving part of the door or window.

During installation, align the marks on both housings. When closed, the distance between the two parts must be no more than 15 mm.

How to connect it to the LIVOLO APP

1. Open the device addition page in the LIVOLO app.
2. Tap «+» and select Door Magnetic Sensor.
3. Using the opening in the housing, press and hold the micro button for approximately 5 seconds.
4. The blue indicator will begin flashing rapidly. It will switch off after the connection is successfully completed.
5. Configure the required notifications and automation scenarios.

A compatible LIVOLO EC gateway is required to connect the sensor to the app and create automations.

Convenience that quickly becomes second nature

Once installed, the sensor operates automatically: there is no need to switch it on or activate it manually each time. One CR1632 battery lasts for more than a year under normal use, while the extremely low power consumption means that virtually no maintenance is required.

Examples of Automatic Scenarios

1. Automatic Lighting Activation:

Install the opening sensor on doors. When they are opened, the sensor sends a signal to the EC gateway, which analyzes this information and sends a command to turn on the lights in the room through smart switches.

2. Homecoming Mode:

As soon as the opening sensor detects the opening of the front doors, the smart system sends a signal to the curtain switch or electric curtain rod to open the curtains. Meanwhile, the temperature and humidity sensor activates the air conditioner or heating, depending on the room's temperature.

3. Security Mode: Activating the Alarm upon Intrusion:

Install the opening sensor on the entrance doors and windows. If someone attempts to enter the house, the opening sensor sends a signal to the EC gateway, which issues a command to activate the doorbell siren and sends a notification to your phone. This significantly enhances the security level for you and your property.

4. Activating Cabinet Lighting upon opening:

For convenience, install the opening sensor on the doors of your cabinet and connect it to a Smart Wi-Fi LED strip located inside the cabinet. When someone opens the cabinet doors, the smart system automatically turns on the light, providing adequate illumination inside the cabinet. The light is automatically turned off when the doors are closed.

5. Activating the Siren when Opening the Refrigerator after 9:00 PM:

Install the opening sensor on the refrigerator door and connect it to the LIVOLO smart system. Set the event time to 9:00 PM every evening. When the refrigerator door is opened, the gateway analyzes the information and sends a command to activate the doorbell siren.

6. Activating the Bathroom Ventilation Fan when Opening the Toilet Lid:

When the toilet lid is raised, the sensor sends a signal to the EC gateway. The gateway analyzes this information and sends a command to activate the ventilation fan in the room through a smart switch.

Both parts of the sensor have a black matte plastic casing. The door or window opening sensor consists of two parts and operates based on sensitivity to changes in the magnetic field.
