Greetings to all friends on the Livolo.in.ua website. Today I would like to share with you my experience and opinion about one unusual touch switch that has no control buttons.

Light control devices always surprise by the fact that they are ahead of time, for which professionals highly appreciate our products. Thanks to the fusion of design skills and professional technologies, it was

possible to turn a seemingly simple switch into a real work of art and technology, whose design captivates with simplicity and elegance, and functionality puts it beyond the competition. Over the years of its existence, the wall light switch has been constantly modernized. The use of sensor control technologies became a new stage in the production of switches. Anyone who has ever used a smartphone, tablet or payment terminal is familiar with the comfortable feeling of working with a touch panel.

For us, ordinary users, controlling the lighting in our apartments and houses using a touch panel is a novelty. And I think many people will be interested to learn how such a sensor switch is arranged and how this miracle of technology works in more detail.

Today's article will talk about touch light switches from Livolo. Consider a single-key, or rather single-sensor light switch of the VL-C701R type and a two-key (two-sensor) light switch of the VL-C702R type (deciphering the abbreviation will be discussed below).

Unlike ordinary key or button switches, such switches are equipped with touch and remote control functions. Management is very simple and works according to the principle of a sensor on a mobile phone or tablet: touch the panel with your finger, the light turns on, touch it again - it goes out. Sensitivity is good. True, the sensor's sensitivity zone is limited and must be touched in a specially designated place.

In addition to the beautiful design and elegant look of the Livolo, I also liked the radio control function. When ordering switches, it should be borne in mind that the remote control may not be included in the set and will have to be purchased separately. There are three types of remote controls, two touch-sensitive ones for 10 and 27 channels and a remote-key fob for 3 channels. The radio control panel makes it possible to control the switch within a radius of 30 m.

To be honest, until recently I did not even suspect the existence of such interesting lighting control devices. It all started with part-time work at one facility, it was necessary to complete the renovation of a two-room apartment and install new sockets and switches instead of the old ones. But the customer was not satisfied with ordinary electrical installation products. He wanted something unusual, fresh and in the style of "Hi-tech".

When I was digging on the Internet and looking for an exclusive option for switches, I came across a touch light switch from the company Livolo in Ukraine. It was an excellent option instead of a push-button switch (as the customer put it, "a white toggle switch with a button"). After agreeing with the customer, we decided that he likes this option the most and fits very well with the interior of the room. After approval, I ordered the following products from the www.livolo.in.ua store: 1) one-key touch light switch VL-C701R, 2) two-key touch light switch VL-C702R and 3) control panel for them VL-RMT-02.

I ordered the touch switches and remote control key fob for them online in the livolo.in.ua store. Their cost at the time of ordering (March 2015) was: one-key - 321 UAH, two-key - 497, control panel - 159 UAH. The parcel arrived by Nova Poshta in 2 days.

Radio-controlled switches VL-C701R and VL-C702R are delivered each in its own packaging. The touch panel made of incandescent glass is packed in a separate box from the switch. That is, there were four packages in total: two switches and two panels for them. The kit also includes a VL-RMT-02 lighting remote control. I would also like to note that the livolo.in.ua store offers a wide color range of touch panels that will suit any apartment design. I liked the gray better and ordered a glass panel in that color.

Switches from Livolo are assembled very qualitatively and meet all European standards for electrical products. The body of the switch is made of heat-resistant plastics, and the tempered glass panel withstands temperatures up to 300 C. Terminals for connecting wires are made of brass.

The front panel is a sensor that transmits signals to turn off or turn on the lighting to the control module. The touch panel is attached to the switch with latches. To install the panel in its place, we bring it to the body and lightly press it until it clicks.

All touch-sensitive light switches have an eye-pleasing LED backlight that changes color depending on the state of the switch. When the switch is off, the backlight glows blue, and when it is on, it glows red.

To turn it on or off, it is enough to touch the sensor with your finger in the selected area (encircled circle). The lighting circuit is switched by an electromagnetic relay, so when the state of the switch changes, you can hear a light click.

The sensor switch is equipped with circuit breaker protection. When will this protection work? The most banal is the burnout of the lamp or the disconnection of the automatic switch in the panel, or the disappearance of the voltage of the electrical network. When such a situation occurs, the switch automatically switches to the "disabled" mode and remains in it even when the power supply is restored. After eliminating the fault, the switch can be turned on normally, by touching the panel or using the remote control.

These models of switches have a built-in radio module for remote control. Control is carried out by pressing the remote control button once. The control panel allows you to control the switch at a distance of up to 30 meters from any room in the house (not necessarily in direct line of sight of the device). The remote control is powered by a 12 Volt battery.

So, let's figure out how to connect a 220 Volt sensor light switch. In essence, it is no different from the connection scheme of a single-key switch.

There are two terminals on the switch body labeled "L-in" and "L-load". Terminal "L-in", the literal abbreviation of which sounds like - "live line terminal". If you use the electrotechnical translation, it means approximately the following: "live line" - live line, "terminal" - contact, contact screw. In general, this is a contact for connecting the phase wire (the one that came from the distribution box).

The "L-load" terminal is called "lightin terminal" in the operating manual, which translates roughly as follows: "lightin" - lighting devices, "load" - load. That is, it is a contact for connecting the wire that goes to the lighting load (the wire that goes to the lamp or chandelier).

As you can see, there is nothing complicated in this "electronic miracle", everything is like a regular switch with two "phase-input" and "phase-output" terminals. We strip the wires to the required length and connect them to the terminals.

If you are installing a sensor switch instead of the old one, simply unscrew the wires from the old one and connect to the new one. The main thing is to determine where the phase is and connect it to the desired contact of the sensor light switch ("L-in" contact).

The only thing I would advise, if you use a multi-core residential cable, use NSHVI tips. The sensor switch has screw-type terminals, and if you insert a bare stranded wire into it, you can easily push it when tightened.

How to connect the two-key touch light switch Livolo VL-C702

The Livolo VL-C702R switch is designed for switching two independent lines of lighting (as evidenced by the coding 02), simply put, two-key. And there is no difference between its scheme and the connection scheme of the two-key switch.

On the back of the sensor, you can see not two, but three terminals for connecting wires: "L-in", "L1-load" and "L2-load". Wires going to a group of lamps (each to its own group) are connected to the "L1-load" and "L2-load" terminals.

Regarding the installation of the sensor. The sensor light switch is installed in a regular socket. There are no spacers for fixation on it, so the switch support is attached to the sockets with screws. By the way, screws are included with each sensor.

Touch switches are certainly a new word in household lighting control technologies. Their convenience and comfort are obvious, and their cost is gradually decreasing. All this allows us to assume that soon sensor devices and remote controls for them can massively replace the usual push-button switches.
