What are quality control and PD standards?
Qualcomm Quick Charge (QC) – This is a fast charging technology that can increase charging speed by 2.5 times compared to conventional chargers. There are several protocols, mainly used in versions 2.0 and 3.0, but version 4.0 also exists.
The Power Delivery (PD) protocol was developed by Apple and is commonly used in their devices. This protocol only works with USB Type-C connectors. The PD standard is based on the interaction between the charger and the device being charged, where optimal charging performance is jointly agreed upon. The device being charged requests the amount of power provided from the charger, in response receiving information about the maximum power that the connected device can accept. Thus, based on this data, it is easy to determine the current charging parameters. The principal advantage of this method is the ability to charge all devices using a single charger once the Power Delivery standard becomes universally accepted.
